22.11.2016 – Smart city plans getting ready – Request for Proposals for various smart city projects for implementation in the area-based development (ABD) approach will be called soon, Municipal Commissioner M. Hari Narayanan has said. The proposals would include smart schools, 24×7 water supply public toilets, cycling tracks, bus stops and footpaths, he told reporters in an interaction here on 21.11.2016. GVMC has selected an area of around 1700 sq km for development as a part of the smart city project.

01.12.2016: INS Viraat: IIT team to conduct EIA studies. It will suggest location of the ship on the coast in the city. A decision has been taken to rope in the services of a team of experts from IIT Madras to get an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) done for stationing of the INS Viraat on the Visakhapatnam coast, according to District Collector Pravin Kumar. 30.11.2016: Banks gear up for salary rush. They pin hopes on arrival of Rs. 500 notes to ease the situation. With banks dispensing less cash than allowed by the RBI and ATMs only Rs. 2000 note, the hardship of people continues. The new Rs. 500 note that could have eased the situation has remained elusive till now. Bankers also see the arrival of Rs. 500 note as much needed relief with the likelihood of a large number of people withdrawing anywhere up to Rs. 25,000 after receiving salaries. 28.11.2016: Ration shops to go cashless. District collector Pravin Kumar met bank officials to check status on use of point of sale machines. He directed all ration shop dealers in the district to open bank accounts in the State Bank of India from Monday to ensure cashless transactions.

27.11.2016: Jobs galore in IT, ITeS in port city. Having launched its portal last month, the IT Association of AP (ITAAP) is now preparing to meet the job requirements for IT and ITeS companies located in the port city. According to ITAAP members, during a recent survey conducted among the 150 plus IT/ITeS companies located in the port city, it has come to light that there are nearly 150 job openings in IT companies and close to 1,200 openings in ITES firms in Vizag. Speaking to TOI, ITAAP president Ravi Eswarapu said, “Companies have already started posting job openings on the ITAAP portal.
