16.02.2017 - Work is under progress - Millennium Tower to be ready by December, 2017. It will have 2,00,000 sq.ft. of built-up space for allotment to plug-and-play operators. Cyclone-resistant Internet of Things-enabled Millennium Tower, work on which is progressing at a brisk place at the sea-facing Rushikonda hills, will become an iconic superstructure and showcase Visakhapatnam as the IT capital of 'Navya Andhra Pradesh.'
Being executed by the AP Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) and funded by the Information and Communication Technology Department of Andhra Pradesh, the construction of the building will be completed by September. Excluding cost for the four acres on which it is coming up, Rs. 180 crore is being spent on construction.
"Work on construction is progressing in a fast-tract mode and we are confident of making it a landmark to promote IT in Visakhapatnam with focus on start-ups and companies specialising in financial technologies and new-age technologies such as blockchain, IoT, cloud computing, and cyber security," V. Srinivasa Moorthy, CEO of AP Electronics and IT Agency (APEITA) told. The APEITA is an autonomous agency promoted by the government with its headquarters at the Cyber Valley, Rushikonda.
The Millennium Tower will have 2,00,000 sq.ft. of built-up space for allotment to plug-and-play operators. In addition, it will have 1,50,000 sq.ft. of space for parking. Under the ambitious project located close to the Sunrise Incubation Hub, two towers will come up. The first is expected to be completed by June/July.

10.09.2016 - Work begins for Millennium Tower at Hill No. 3 in IT SEZ, Madhurawada. The APIIC had set a target to complete the works of the tower by August, 2017. In the first phase, around 2 lakh sft space will be available to allot for IT companies and subsequently in the next phase, another 1 lakh sft will be added to the Millennium Tower.
APIIC has invited an e-tender for the construction of Millennium Tower at Plot No. 16 & 17 (in 4 acres) at Hill No.3, IT SEZ, Madhurawada. Approximate value of the tender is 86.80 crore and the period of the work is 15 months and the last date of tender submission is 23.04.2016.
18.03.2016 : According to an IT department official, the Millenium Tower project at Hill 3 in Rushikonda will provide around 3 lakh sft to companies planning to set up offices in the Port City. "The Millenium Tower will be built on Plot No 16 and 17 of Hill 3 and it will be a government-constructed building for IT companies. This will be a permanent tower and is meant for IT companies focussing on Vizag as an IT destination," the official said, adding that the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) has prepared the request for proposal from interested parties for construction of the building.
The IT Department will have five floor tower to be named Millennium Tower with three lakh sft space that will come up in a four-acre land adjacent to the Madhurawada IT SEZ Incubation Tower. The first two floors will be for start-up units and the rest of three floors will be allotted for companies.
18.05.2017 - Nearly two years after the proposal to develop an IT layout was mooted by the state government, development work on the first-of-its-kind IT layout in the state has started at Kapuluppada.
Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) sources said the first phase of the project comprising an area of around 250 acres has been taken up for development at Kapuluppada. Sources said while the overall area earmarked for the IT cluster is around 1,350 acres, APIIC will initially focus on laying approach roads, installing streetlights and marking the plots for the integrated IT layout in order to attract tech firms to set up shop in the port city. "We are developing the Kapuluppada IT layout in a phased manner. We have started work on phase one on 250 acres. We will be laying the approach road and internal roads along with the streetlights and drains. The estimated cost is around Rs 20 crore," an APIIC official said. He said the total plotted area is around 150 acres and the remaining 100 acres will be a common green area for layiout. "We are expecting around 30 plots to be developed in the 150 acres," he said.
24.03.2017 - IT,E&C Dept of Govt.of Andhra Pradesh has issued a GO RT.No. 19 Dated: 20-03-2017 regarding sanction and release of Rs. 24,60,00,000/- for releasing payment to Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Ltd (APIIC Ltd) to take up the development of Infrastructure in IT layout Phase along with provision of external and internal infrastructure facilities like improvements to approach roads, provision of drinking water etc.
10.09.2016 - IT Park layout okayed at Kapulauppada in Vizag. APIIC has finalised the layout pattern of the IT Park proposed at Kapulauppada. In the first phase, development will be done in 250 acres of the total 1750 acres of land available at Kapulauppada.

03.06.2017 : At last some progress in construction of IT Tower jointly by VUDA and STPI @ Siripuram in Vizag Smart City with 3 basements and 8 floors. VUDA officials said that the project will be completed in a period 18 months. Project cost ; Rs. 62.7 crores, No of IT units: 40-50 approx. Employment generation to 5000 people approx., exports target Rs. 200 crores. MP, Mr. Haribabu handed over a letter to STPI three days back stating that CPWD to undertake the construction work of Tower instead of VUDA and the amount spent by VUDA till now on this project will be considered as an investment by VUDA.
21.01.2017 : No progress on construction of IT Tower at Siripuram Junction jointly by Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (VUDA) and the Software Technology Park of India (STPI) even after MOU signed on 18.02.2016 in the presence of Union IT, Electronics and Communications Minister, Mr. Ravi Shankar Prasad, Chief Minister, Mr. Chandrabau Naidu and Union Urban Development Minister Mr. M. Venkaiah Naidu. Apart from VUDA, Vizag MP, Dr. K. Haribabu & HRD Minister, Mr. Ganta Srinivasa Rao should take initiative to get the approval from the Central Government to commence the construction work of IT incubation center at the earliest. The IT incubation centre, is projected to provide jobs to 2,500 and achieve IT exports of Rs. 300 crore. Roughly, 50 small IT units may come up in the centre.

Venkaiah Naidu, a memorandum of understanding was signed on 18.02.2016 for setting up an IT incubation centre at Siripuram Junction in Vizag Smart City jointly by the Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (VUDA) and the Software Technology Park of India (STPI) at a total cost of Rs. 62.70 crore. The VUDA would provide the land valued at Rs. 16.7 crore free of cost and the STPI would bear the rest of the cost (Rs 46 crores). The IT incubation centre, expected to be ready by April 2018, is projected to provide jobs to 2,500 and achieve IT exports of Rs. 300 crore. Roughly, 50 small IT units may come up in the centre.
Preliminary work to be commenced for construction of Tallest IT tower consists of 10 to 12 floors in an area of 1.2 acres at Siripuram between VUDA and HSBC, the joint venture project of Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority and Software Technology Parks of India (Ministry of Information Technology). This huge tower in the heart of the city to provide more space to the IT entrepreneurs and startups. This tower is first of its kind domain-specific incubation and innovation center on marine, power and petroleum to encourage small and medium IT players and Startups.
VUDA bids for IT Tower project - 12 Storied Building - Incubation and Innovation centre with plug and play facilities. VUDA had come forward offering its one acre land adjacent to its near Siripuram (beside HSBC) where around 1.25 lakh sft space building is planned. An MOU in this regard will be signed between VUDA and STPI after the consultant submit its report.After the techno feasibility report is submitted, the consultant will finalise the design and modalities of the incubation centre. Sources in State IT department pointed out that it will be a 12 storied building. The Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) is planning to develop an ESDM (Electronic System Design and Manufacturing) incubation centre with the assistance of the central government in the Port City.
17.10.2017 : ANSR to set up major facility in city. Cabinet clears allotment of 10 acres for Rs. 500-cr. project. Lalith Ahuja's ANSR Consulting will invest Rs. 500 crore over six years to transform Visakhapatnam into a world-class destination for global in-house centres (GIC) at sea-facing Rushikonda. The State Cabinet cleared the proposal to allot 10 acres of land to the leading consulting company, which has a huge facility in Bengaluru. The land was earlier earmarked for construction of Signature Tower which was subsequently dropped. The company has agreed to provide job opportunities for 5,000 people by constructing a built-up area of five lakh square feet and setting up an accelerator. A special purpose vehicle will be formed soon to implement the project by ANSR Consulting. In lieu of land, the government will have equity in the project. As part of the project, an accelerator, hotel and a multiplex will come up in phases.INSR Consulting set up in 2004 has so far established 27 GICs. It has the backing of Accel Partners and Infosys for promoting startup-driven innovation. "The commitment to establish a 5,000-seater GIC in the city is a significant achievement in transforming Visakhapatnam into an IT and innovation hub," Tirumala Chamalla, CEO (Promotions) of AP Electronics and IT Agency (APEITA), an autonomous society formed by the government, told The Hindu. The CEO of APEITA said initially it would be allotted a 100-seater space by APEITA for incubation as the construction time for the project at Rushikonda would be 18 months. Mr. Tirumala said the project would provide jobs in technology, analytics and business.
90% of the construction work is completed and will be inaugurated soon.

Union IT, Electronics and Communications Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad laid the foundation stone on 18.02.2016 for the Society for Applied Microwave Electronics Engineering and Research (SAMEER) centre to be set up at Gambheeram in Vizag Smart City in an area of 30 acres at a cost of Rs. 80 crore. It is a research institute under my ministry which undertakes high-end research in electro-magnetic interference and related areas and such research has many defence as well as civilian applications.
03.07.2016 : Site finalised for Electronic Manufacturing Clusters (EMC) in Vizag Smart City - APIIC has finalised its location at Gurammapalem near Pendurthy and AP Pollution Control Board has also cleared it.An estimated Rs. 300 crore will be spent on creating internal roads, other amenities and infrastructure will be spent. Part of it will be granted by DeitY. In another development, instead of 98 acres, an additional area of 30 acres is likely to be allotted to seek investments in high-end IT products and services.

We need to get clarification as to who will fund the infrastructure development for the EHMC. As soon as the clearance is issued from the government, we will take up the development of the cluster by providing roads, power, water and other necessary infrastructure, said an APIIC official.The in-principle clearance was received a month ago. We have to prepare the final project report and send it to the central government. Once we get the final clearances, we will divide the clusters into plots and offer it to different electronic companies, a senior IT department official said, adding, A couple of companies have shown interest in the cluster, but it may increase as and when the cluster is formally announced. An IT department official said, We can invite the companies to come and set up shop only after the central government declares the cluster. As and when the central government approves the cluster, it will also provide large funding for development of infrastructure for the EHMC.
