03.01.2017 : The Construction of the CSR block has started and the first floor is completed. It is expected to be ready by the year end 2017. The facilities in the six-storey CSR block is being constructed near the principal's office with a capital cost approximaely Rs. 80 crores will include Cardiology department and Radio therapy unit in the ground floor, radiology in the first floor and multi speciality units in the rest of the floors. The CSR Block would have as many as 500 beds. The funds for this project sponsored by various corporate companies and organisations under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), ONGC, NTPC, GAIL, RINL-Vizag Steel, Nuclear Power Corporation, HPCL, Vizag Port Trust & NMDC.

Super Speciality Block in King George Hospital will be constructed in 6 floors to set up Critical Care, Radiotherapy, Anchology like super speciality departments.
11.04.2016 : Union Minister of State (Independent charge) for Labour Bandaru Dattatreya laid the foundation stone for construction of a 300-bed ESI Hospital, in the presence of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Union Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu, Ministers, MPs and MLAs at Sheela Nagar in the city.
The hospital will have all modern medical care facilities. Similarly, all ESI Hospitals in the State will be modernised. He said that the ESI Hospital in the city will be a boon to north Andhra and would meet the requirements of 191 lakh insured persons from the three districts. The patients will be referred from the 14 ESI Dispensaries, five panel clinics and one ESI Model dispensary-cum-diagnostic centre in the region. The existing ESI Hospital at Gandhigram at Scindia was established on January 26, 1972. The hospital was set up land taken on lease from the Visakhapatnam Port Trust (VPT). The lease period had expired and the building had reached a dilapidated stage. The new hospital building will come up in an extent of 6.80 acres and have all the facilities for secondary care medical treatment for the insured persons and their family members, according to a note issued by Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC).
Proposal for Govt. Dental College in Vizag Smart City is pending since long time. Proposal has been made to Medical Council of India (MCI) to set up Govt. Dental College, which will be affiliated to Andhra Medical College, to start with 100 seats. A report has been sent to the State Govt.of Andhra Pradesh regarding infrastructure required for setting up the Dental College.
